Pharmaceutical companies fund about 60 percent of all adult cancer research, and less than 1 percent for kids (source)

Conclusion: the government or big companies are not going to fund the cure for our kids, we have to do it ourselves.

What Your Donation Will Fund

Sammy's Superheroes Foundation has pledged $400,000 over four years to the University of Chicago Medicine's Comer Children’s Hospital's Pediatric Cancer Data Commons. This project will allow doctors and researchers to share their data with other researchers anywhere in the world. The project will collect, standardize and store research data allowing progress towards new, modern treatments for all types of pediatric cancer to be found faster, leading to a cure and saving countless lives.

With its integration with the Genomic Data Commons, it will empower scientists to discover similarities in patients and cancers across diagnostic types, and speed the process when treatments are successful in one type can be applied to another. As more researchers contribute to the data commons, and more use it as the basis for new research, the impact of your gift will continue to grow.
